Providing NHS services

Carers, you deserve care too

At GP at Hand we understand that caring for another person can be physically and emotionally demanding. If you’re busy caring for a loved one, we’re here to help make it easier for you to manage your own healthcare needs, by giving you access to the services and the emotional support you need to stay happy and healthy while caring for somebody else. As well as convenient digital access to our GPs, we are starting to offer all of our patients who are carers a free annual health check too.

Are you a carer or do you have a carer?

A carer is anyone who looks after a family member, partner or friend who is unable to cope on their own. This care might be to support with mental or physical health, frailty, a disability or addiction. Carers can be children or adults, and the care they give is unpaid.*

Support for carers in your area

Search your borough to find your local council’s carers support service. They’ll be able to help you with a carers assessment to see what help you might be entitled to. You can also find carers support networks in your area.

Carer's Healthcheck

As a carer for someone else you may not always prioritise your own healthcare needs. We are currently piloting annual health checks for our patients who are carers, with the view to extend this to all our carers in the near future. The health check will be a holistic assessment of your health and wellbeing.
