1. Ensure you have the NHS App installed on your smartphone or tablet from the Apple Store or Google Play.
2. Sign in to the app; you will require an NHS login for this. If you don’t have one, you can easily create one.

Once you have logged into the app successfully:

Select Services
Select Contact your GP about a health problem
Continue completing a short assessment to be offered the earliest appointment available

Note: DO NOT click on ‘Check for available GP appointments’, it will always show that no appointments are available, instead click Contact your GP about a health problemto be able to book an appointment or to be advised on next steps if deemed urgent.

Non-urgent advice: Discover how to manage your care using the NHS App below

You may also see services, letters, results and appointments from hospitals and other services you have been referred to on the NHS app. The NHS team are continuing to add to the services available via the NHS app, so this will expand even more with time.

About the NHS App

The NHS App gives you a simple and secure way to access a range of NHS services. Download the NHS App on your smartphone or tablet via the Google play or App store. You can also access the same services in a web browser by logging in through the NHS website.

You must be aged 13 or over and be registered with a GP surgery in England or the Isle of Man to access the NHS App.

With full access you can:

  • Order repeat prescriptions and nominate a pharmacy where you would like to collect them
  • Book and manage appointments
  • View your medical record to see information like your allergies and medicines (if your GP has given you access to your detailed medical record, you can also see information like test results)
  • Book and manage vaccinations
  • Register your organ donation decision
  • Choose how the NHS uses your data
  • View your NHS number (find out what your NHS number is)
